Wella Stylists – up, up and away!
Lights were bright – although perhaps not quite as bright as the talents on stage - and the music was rhythmic on Sunday September 18, as top hair professionals from the US and Canada faced off at the Hollywood Palladium for the North American Trend Vision Awards.
A crowd of more then 1000 cheered for the 33 finalists competing in three categories: Young Talent, Color and Student. Winners Shirley Gordon (Color Category US), Joey Kiening (Young Talent US), Kristin Bacaycay (Student Category US*), Antonio Quintieri (Color Category Canada) and Suzanne Pack (Young Talent Canada) will represent their countries at the INTERNATIONAL TREND VISION AWARDS next month in NYC. And even the webcast attracted about 3000 viewers from more than 14 countries, who logged on to enjoy the excitement.
As always, Trend Vision is synonymous with exhilarating stage performances - this year by David Garibaldi, a Los Angeles -based painter/performance artist who creates paintings and unique color installations, using color, music and light. Then it was all about hair, as Wella Professionals celebrated “Cosmic Infinities” presented by Sebastian Design Team stylists Diva Poulos and Daniel Di Tommaso, and Nioxin Top Stylists Brian Bode and Anthony Crosfield brought healthy, beautiful hair to life with catwalk looks from NYC’s FashionWeek. Then it was the turn of Essensuals London, followed by The Hairstyling Team of Eamonn Boreham, Gary France, Emma Hodgkins and Jayson Gray, who presented their new collection of cut & color techniques as well as inspiring looks from London’s Fashion Week.
“We were so inspired by the work of the competitors,” said Reuben Carranza, CEO of P&G North America Salon Professional, Wella’s parent company. “Their creativity, their passion and their commitment to continual improvement raises the craft to the level of artistry.”
Creative Director Fabio Sementilli noted “Tonight we established our continental flagship event that celebrates our stylist community, from Toronto to San Diego, from student to master. Wella Professionals and the Trend Vision competitors will continue to inspire our North American Salon family.”
