9 Tips for the perfect winter fringe from cos sakkas
A fringe can update a long hairstyle, transform a short cut and add a focal point to the face. According to TONI&GUY international artistic director, Cos Sakkas, a fringe suits everyone and can make a big difference to any hairstyle.
“Depending on the hair length, shape and texture, it depends which shape you opt for. You also need to take into consideration face shape and lifestyle. A fringe should take minimum effort, should work with your hair texture and be easy to look after,” Cos explains.
Here are Cos' top 9 tips to creating the perfect fringe for winter.
1 Make sure the front hairline is suitable to manage a fringe – not all hairlines suit a fringe, for example a strong cowslick.
2 Think about forehead size. Ideally you need a medium to large forehead to allow the fringe to sit properly.
3 If the forehead is short, sit the fringe as far back on the head as you can to give the illusion of depth.
4 The fringe shape needs to be opposite to the face shape. If your face is round choose a square fringe; a square face should choose a round fringe. A wide face needs a narrow fringe, while a narrow face needs a wider fringe.
5 A fringe that flutters on the eyelashes is modern, feminine – and the sexiest of all fringes.
6 A little pixie fringe suits short hair, especially when it is styled choppy and soft.
7 A disconnected, sweeping fringe is perfect for longer styles.
8 Fine hair needs to have depth to it so it doesn’t look wispy and thin. A fringe should give the illusion that fine hair is thicker, as all the perimeters will be blunter and thick.
9 A curly fringe is a big commitment, always cut a curly fringe dry so you can see the shape. Make sure weight is removed on shorter, curly hair so it doesn’t become helmet-like.
